I have no issues with draining when it is intalled; the basket strainer part pops out easily for emptying and pops back in. To stopper the water, just push down. It holds water very well, and you push down again for it to release and drain. It is literally the easiest to use. I hope they never stop making this product exactly as it is. Everyone needs this functionality in their life.
